Maybe you know Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell? It’s the boys' pseudonyms employed by Charlotte, Emily and Anne to publish their books anonymously and, because in the 19th Century, girls were not very appreciated in literature and there were prejudices against female writers. It’s one of the reasons why The Brontë sisters were famous. When people discovered that their books which they read were written by girls, it provoked a tremendous shock!
