The beginning of a long story
In 1831, the siblings were working at little jobs and all had left the house. But fourteen years later, in 1845, the Family were all together in the Parsonage again and they used the legacy from their aunt Branwell’s death in 1842 to finance the publication of a collection of their poems: Selected Poems. The collection was published in May 1846. It’s the first work they published and under their pseudonyms. It’s also the only work they published with their brother Branwell.
He worked alone after as a painter (even if he wrote with his sisters when he was a child). He rapidly became an addict to alcohol and drugs. In September 1848, he died aged 31.
