Ecce Ancilla Domini, 1850, by Dante Gabriel Rossetti
This is a painting by Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882)entitled Ecce Ancilla Domini, created in 1850. We can see women again, one of the characteristics of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. They are just two, one is on a bed and she looks scared whereas we can just see the back of the other woman. There are four colours which emerge from this painting, white, red, blue and yellow. One of the women is holding a flower and we can think that she will give it to the other.
